Wooden Garden Obelisks - Oak, Accoya & Painted Obelisks
Wooden Garden Obelisk at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017
Wooden Garden Obelisk was given a 3 star trade stand award by the judges at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017. This year we chose a selection of painted obelisks, including our new Tower Obelisk with an open top structure providing support for climbing plants and plenty of space for clematis or roses to cascade through and over the decorative garden structure. We set the tower obelisk within a large versailles style wooden garden planter with Chevy Chase rambling rose providing a beautiful and colourful display of red roses. The garden planter and tower obelisk were painted Dark Lead from Little Greene Paint Company. Our display included a 230cm tall classic style wooden garden obelisk painted London Stone from Farrow & Ball, with a bespoke hand turned finial in the shape of a Comice Pear. In the centre of the display was a 195cm Sweet Pea Obelisk, painted Turtle Back, this was the size, style and colour of obelisk chosen by a highly respected Garden Designer for their own garden. Planting for the Sweet Pea Obelisk included a low growing patio Clematis Cezanne with blue / lilac coloured flowers together with a slightly taller but still a patio / container Clematis Marta, growing to 5-6 foot tall, with deep pink / purple flowers. To the right of the display we included a 160cm wooden garden obelisk painted Lulworth Blue from Farrow & Ball, with Clematis Corinne. The display was complemented with additional planting of Hidcote Lavender, Campanula and Lorentia within a variety of low level painted planters made from Tricoya Board.

The show was a wonderful success for us and we were delighted to receive an award at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2016 for our trade stand, with show judges awarding 3 stars for the display, presentation and quality of the Wooden Garden Obelisk show stand. We took great care in the design and presentation of our painted and unpainted Accoya obelisks to offer show visitors the opportunity to view a varied selection of our obelisks including the sweet pea design obelisk, large timber obelisk and our Obelisk with integral planter. The planting scheme we chose was a bed of French Lavender to surround each collection of obelisks, with individual specimen rambling roses, including Chevy Chase, Mannington Mauve and Veilchenblau roses from Peter Beales in Norfolk.
